He's not underage, and he wasn't underage even when I first began self-shipping with him years and years before GX even came out. More precisely, if we accept the age of 18 provided by the English dub, then he was age 28 when last depicted in his source. This would make him solidly in his mid/late twenties when he last appeared in canon. Secondly, he appears in the second major Yu-Gi-Oh! series, Yu-Gi-Oh! GX, which is set ten years after the events of Duel Monsters. Either way, when I first began (platonically) self-shipping with Kaiba Seto, he was 18 in canon. 4kids is known for making a lot of weird changes to the dub, but this is not one of them-at most, it could be said that they added a couple details that the Japanese version of the show and manga never provided.
I've already said as much as I really care to say about this as well as the question of whether I age him up here, but I'll reiterate here just so it's perfectly clear.įirstly, he's never explicitly given an age in Duel Monsters, but in the English dub of the Virtual World arc, we are given two facts: Seto was 12 when he was adopted by Gozaburo, and the events that Noa is showing them took place 6 years earlier.
